Mom Posts 104 Twitter Updates During Labor
Social media has changed the world. Camera phones have caught some of the biggest natural disasters, human feats, and everything in between. In fact, it’s hard to imagine the world without it. Now, thanks to Twitter, followers can track a person’s day through a stream of 140 character tweets. Recently, one woman tweeted during labor.
I first read on Raising Kvell about Rachel Ince, 29, who sent out 104 Twitter updates during labor. Raising Kvell joked her tweets would’ve read along the lines of…
9:51: Ooooowwwwwwwwwww. Where’s that friggin doula?
10:00 Take that birthing ball and shove it
The Daily Mail reported that Ince is “obsessed with the social networking site” and wanted a way to document the experience. Ince’s tweets were actually a perfect stream of updates that led the reader through the whole experience. Here are some of my favorites:
1:46: Hmmm. I wonder if giving birth will take me over 6,000 tweets. It’s given me 25 new followers already.
11:17 COME ON. I HAVE NOT SLEPT FOR 36 HOURS. TAKE ME BACK TO MY BED NOW.
8:35: Midwife “would you like any painkillers?” Me: “YES please”.
