Recall Alert: Hyland’s Teething Tablets
Do you give your baby Hyland’s Teething Tablets? You should stop and immediately discard any remaining tablets. Each tablet is manufactured to contain a small amount of belladonna, a substance that in large doses can cause serious harm. However, an FDA analysis of the product shows that the tablets contain inconsistent amounts of belladonna. Additionally, the FDA has received reports of children consuming more than the recommended dose of the product, likely because the container does not have child-resistant packaging.
Consuming too much belladonna can lead to seizures, difficulty breathing, excessive sleepiness, muscle weakness, skin flushing, constipation, difficulty urinating, or agitation.
If your baby consumed Hyland’s teething tablets and is experiencing any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately. Additionally, you can report adverse reactions to the FDA’s MedWatch Program.Add a Comment
