92% of US Tots Online: Is Yours With the Times?

Facebook and other forms of social media are clearly ubiquitous among the… well… walking and talking set, but this new study from the online security company AVG finds that 92% of US toddlers (under age 2) have some sort of online presence… and 5% have their own social media profile. The trend isn’t just for those residing outside the womb — 23% of US fetuses are on the web before they’re even born, in the form of antenatal scans.

What’s your take on social media among the nursery-school set? Is your child online, and as of what age? If not… why not?

my three & a half year old has a facebook (& had a myspace when i used myspace). she’s had it since she was about 1. it’s private, only people i accept as friends can see it. it’s just an easier way for family who lives out of state to keep up with her & i post funny things she says on it.

All of our children have been on facebook since being in the womb. Mostly because all of our family live far away and its the only way they get to consistently see our children as they grow. However, we do not allow people we do not know to be on our friends list and all of our pictures are set to private. I stay up to date on all the privacy settings to make sure our children aren’t “out there.”

Fantastic post, thank you for discussing the info. It isn’t all too often that you simply study articles where the poster knows what they’re running a blog about. Grammar as well as spelling are just right too, just difficulty We seemed to have was bringing up the site, seemed slow. Appears like other visitors experienced exactly the same difficulty?
