Make Your Cookies Count
Today I attended an event sponsored by Glad to learn more about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. We’ve covered the organization before, but it has grown so much now, it’s kind of amazing. Cookies is a non-profit organization that was founded by parents who were inspired by their young son’s ongoing fight against cancer. Today, pediatric cancer is the no. 1 cause of death by disease of children in the U.S., mostly due to the lack of funding for research for new therapies. Glad partnered with the organization in 2009, and together the two led consumers to host nearly 600 bake sales, raising more than $200,000 in only two months.
But there’s still tons to do. So how can you help? How about hosting your own bake sale? If you’re not into the whole cooking thing, you can purchase cookies online for the organization as well. And be sure to check back with Glad in April for more info on their Recipe for Giving contest, and for rules and details about how to enter.
