A Book to Run With
A few of the Parents editors, myself included, are planning on running our sister magazines’ More/Fitness half marathon in April. I’ll be posting updates throughout our training, but if you’re looking for a little motivation to get yourself into those running sneakers, whether it’s for a jog around the block or a race, get your hands on a copy of Christopher McDougall’s Born to Run. I read it a few months ago and became enthralled with the jaw-on-the-floor awe-inspiring story about distance runners (we’re talking runs that last hundreds of miles- nope, not a typo) and the energy and passion these people have for the sport. But don’t worry if your idea of a marathon is back-to-back episodes of Project Runway; runners and non-runners alike will find the story captivating. I dare you to read it and not go for a jog afterward (or at least take your walking pace up a notch.)
If you’ve got any running words of wisdom, recommendations, or just want to cheer us on, please share! We’ll love you for it!
