Friday Night Movies
Disney announced this week that it will offer refunds for its Baby Einstein line of DVDs (bought June 2004 to September 4th), which had been marketed as educational for babies and toddlers (a claim that's caused the company problems over the years). Apparently watching TV doesn't make your child a genius. Who knew? But a lot of parents didn't expect Baby Einstein to turn their kid into, well, Einstein–they just wanted something good their little one could watch while they cooked dinner or took a much-needed breather. Regardless of the reasons for buying the DVDs, you now have the option of a refund. Here's what we want to know: Are you planning on getting the refund or letting it go? Post a comment below to let us know!

That’s ridiculous. Obviously the parents requesting a refund aren’t very bright!!

I agree with Tiffany…if a parent honestly thinks the DVDs would give their infant a head start academically, they need more than a refund…

I bought a lot of the videos when my kids were younger and I do believe that they are smart but not from watching tv, or videos. I am sure the refund thing is to avoid a big lawsuit somewhere down the line, ridiculous indeed!

I will not participate in the refund. I bought the dvds with the intention that they were better than “bubble gum” and they were!! My kids, now age 4 1/2 can recognize Van Gogh pics, knew were animals are from and in general LOVED the DVDs. I WILL NOT take away from that no matter how much I would love extra cash. Please, if these videos made your life or your kids life any better, I urge you not to take advantage of this, or we may never see any more of Baby Einstein!!!!And the world would just be a sadder place without it.

My 4 year old still loves the dvds and stops playing to watch them with his baby brother. They give me time to make dinner~ the kids get a non-violent, non-gender stereotyped, interesting, cultural, fun show to watch… and the big boy hums Mozart on the playground. LOVE THEM! no refund necessary.

I had no intention of making my children learn while watching TV. I just needed a distraction. They are awsome and there is no need for a refund.

Obviously all the moms with common sense are Parents readers. I have to agree with everyone above. We have several of the dvds and I won’t be getting any refund – you’ve got to be kidding me! Since when do companies have to suffer for a few individual’s need to make a buck or their sheer ignorance. duh!
