Cold Relief That’s Nothing to Sniff(le) At
Last week, I blogged about attending an info session on cold and flu viruses, where I had the chance to preview some new Vicks symptom-relievers that will be hitting drugstore shelves next fall. Among the upcoming offerings: NyQuil Less Drowsy, a reformulated syrup which contains a less sedating antihistamine. Thanks to a well-timed summer cold, I had the perfect opportunity to test it out.
To be honest, I was skeptical about the less-drowsy claims—I'm pretty sensitive to medications (in the past, regular NyQuil left me feeling so fuzzy the next day that I probably would have been better off not taking anything at all). The verdict? Well, I did feel a little foggy the next a.m. But after a hot shower and my morning cup of coffee, any residual grogginess was definitely worth it for the awesome sleep the toned-down stuff allowed me—I felt more rested than I had in days. Thanks to the new formulation, I'm definitely a cold-med convert.
