Reassuring News About HPV Vaccine

We’ve heard scary stories this year about young women who’d gotten the HPV vaccine. However, the CDC has just released brand new safety data this week based on more than 375,000 doses of Gardasil given to girls and women ages 9-26. The researchers found that there was no significant increase in the risk of any of the eight serious adverse outcomes they studied, including blood clots, stroke, seizures, Guillain-Barr√© Syndrome, or anaphylaxis. Although some women have gotten blood clots, most of them were taking birth control pills, which is known to increase the risk of clots.
