Smile, It’s Clean-Up Time

Happy_face
Let’s just say that the "disarray" in my 14-year-old’s bedroom has been an ongoing challenge. Lots of miscellaneous stuff and no place to put it. Rejected outfits. Old math homework. Camp photos. You get the picture. In my effort to find the right balance between nagging and suggesting and demanding, I mentioned to Abby the other day, "Why don’t you ask a friend to come help you clean up your room? You can play music, hang out, and I’ll get you whatever snacks you want." She laughed off my idea, saying no one would want to share such an unpleasant task. However, yesterday she announced that Sam (Samantha) was coming over to clean. It was amazing. They actually had fun. And the big girls even let my 3-year-old "help" them. A pristine desk. Three huge bags of garbage. Two bags of too-small clothes to give away. One very happy mommy. (Sam’s mom is hoping that Abby will come to their house soon.)
