Buckle Up, Miley!

We’re pretty big Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana fans around here. She’s a good role model who doesn’t seem too likely to pull a Jamie-Lynn anytime soon. Plus those songs are just so darned catchy! But here’s something we’re not cheering about: According to Consumer Reports, in her hugely promoted 3-D concert tour movie, she and her dad are shown not wearing seatbelts while driving to a rehearsal. Did anyone who saw the movie catch this? (I didn’t see it.) I have to say I don’t think your average 11-year-old is going to spot this small moment and try to get out of wearing a seatbelt cuz Miley doesn’t… (I hope!) but it’s still a pretty big goof that the film’s editors and director didn’t catch it—and that she apparently doesn’t wear her seatbelt. Buckle up, Miley!

    Really? I don’t see her as a good role model at all. She kind of comes off as a snot and definitely a bit on the slutty side. I mean, if my daughter looked and acted like her, I’d definitely have better things to worry about, but I can’t say I’d LIKE her to.

    I totally agree with the previous comment! I think that she might be an okay role model for teenagers, but that is not the average age of the CHILDREN who watch her show! I think that little girls need to stay little girls as long as possible, and I am definitely not ready for my little girls to start dressing like Miley and talking about boys, dating, etc.

    Well really, given the choices, she may be the best role model out there right now. I absolutely believe little girls should be little girls, but they seem to be growing up faster and faster. And honestly I’d rather them look up to Miley than the Paris/Nicole/Britney set.
