Once, early in my pregnancy, I bought an off-the-rack dress on sale at Pea in the Pod and thought I looked pretty good for a Hollywood event I was covering for work during awards season in Los Angeles. That is, I thought I looked good until I stood in reasonably close proximity to a pregnant Kerry Washington, who looked like a flawless goddess. Moral of the story: If you want to be a glam pregnant lady, it doesn’t hurt to have unlimited funds and stylist resources to pull it off.
Celeb moms-to-be Blake Lively and Kate Middleton know a thing or two about that — and they’re killing it at the pregnancy fashion game.
First, there was the outfit Lively wore in photos announcing her pregnancy on her website . Her orchid pattered blouse, which retailed for $148 from Sam & Lavi, sold out in no time flat, according to E! Online.
This week, she stepped out for her first post-announcement joint appearance with hubby Ryan Reynolds looking beyond enviably glam and gorgeous in a skin-tight pale yellow Gucci gown with a down-to-there neckline, as seen in Us Weekly. File under: Stars are not just like us.
Then of course there’s Kate Middleton, who is also well known for her outfits’ ability to immediately sell out retail store stock. This week, she too made her first public appearance since the palace was forced to announce her pregnancy early due to acute morning sickness. She wore an impeccable Alexander McQueen coat dress and coordinating fascinator, according to the Daily Mail. And she looked impossibly perfect, as always. If only McQueen was within the realm of affordability for the average pregnant woman — or any woman! — it’s a safe bet half of us would be rocking that look this very weekend.

Here’s something you don’t see every day on a high-fashion runway: a pregnant strutter.
Yes, Karl Lagerfeld sent his model muse, Ashleigh Good, down the haute couture runway in a bridal gown that clearly showed her real-life pregnancy.
Not surprisingly, the Twitterverse immediately lit up with feedback:

Lagerfeld, who isn’t exactly known for embracing body types larger than the dimensions of a typical fashion model, held hands with Good as she strutted in a dazzling white gown with rich gold accents—a look that appeared fit for royalty.
The move is bold not just because a designer chose to employ a pregnant model for a high-profile runway walk. But it also makes a statement about the variety of now-ordinary ways, once considered nontraditional or even scandalous, that brides take their own walks down the aisle. (We recently covered a study of millennial parents that showed a whopping 64 percent of them have at least one baby outside of marriage.)

Sure, such wedding a gown may fall well outside the range of accessibility for most pregnant brides. But it’s easy to picture on any number of celebrities in Hollywood, who frequently set examples of marriage with—or after—baby bump.
What do you think of Chanel’s pregnant bride example?

Yes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hilarious as the hosts of the Golden Globes. Yes, the always glam Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams all won coveted best actress trophies (best supporting for JLaw), but if you ask
me it was really the pregnant presenters who stole the show! Olivia Wilde stunned in a long-sleeved, emerald-green sequined Gucci gown, which she paired with an Emm Kuo clutch and Forevermark diamonds. While we were all oohing and awing over her, the self-deprecating star admitted, “Until about a week ago, I just looked fat!” she said. “I wanted to be like, ‘I’m not fat, I’m pregnant!’” (Um, I think we’ve all been there at one time or another!)
The soon-to-be first-time mom was absolutely giddy about all things baby. Not only did the loose-lipped star reveal she and fiancé Jason Sudeikis are having a boy (who was kicking her all the way down the red carpet!), but during an interview with Ryan Seacrest Olivia also spilled her son’s due date. The Star Wars fan says it’s easy for her to remember. All she has to say is, “May the fourth be with you.” That’s right—May 4—just one week before Mother’s Day. What a fab early Mom’s Day present!
But she wasn’t the only bumpilicious beauty of the night. The always perfectly-styled Kerry Washington did not disappoint her fashion fans. Decked out in a custom-made white Balenciaga gown, matching Balenciaga clutch, open-toed Casadei shoes and Fred Leighton jewels, she proudly announced, “I have the best date of the night, my little accessory here,” as she touched her growing belly.
And Drew Barrymore, who is pregnant with baby #2 and is due in late March/early April, wore a lovely Monique Lhuillier gown covered in floral appliqués, red Roger Vivier shoes, a sparkly Edie Parker clutch and jewelry by Chanel. She couldn’t thank her dress designer enough. “She’s making a pregnant lady feel really good right now,” Barrymore told E! She then explained to People why she chose the dress in the first place, “It’s hearts and flowers and pink, all of my favorite things. When I saw it, I said, ‘It’s perfect.’ It’s comfortable and it’s easy—two very important things when you’re pregnant!”
Olivia, Kerry and Drew were looking so gorgeous that women were even commenting that they wanted to get pregnant just so they could look as beautiful as these ladies with their full, flowing locks and natural glows. It doesn’t get much better than that!
