Not so fast! Before I announce the winner, let’s recap the “nominees” aka all of the lovely pregnant stars of 2013 (well, most of them—there isn’t enough space or time to go over every single one of them but these are the highlights!).
In the newsmakers category we have Kate Middleton, who was the picture of perfection—period. Jessica Simpson was a boho goddess in major maxis. Though Kim Kardashian was often criticized for her fashion (and her pregnancy weight gain), I think she was graceful under pressure (that said, note to pregnant women everywhere: a head-to-toe, long sleeve, high-neck rose-patterned gown is not a good look—ever).
As for our favorite musicians, Shakira’s hips didn’t—and still don’t—lie. Even nine months pregnant, she was just as perky and petite as ever (how’d she do it?). Fergie was able to maintain her rocker edge from start to finale (I wanted an encore!). Gwen Stefani has been the master of (bump) disguise in fashion-forward staples any girl would die for (especially me!).
Then you have the sweet girl-next-door types who’ve melted our hearts with every interview or Twitter post about what it means to be a mom: Drew Barrymore (I am eating up every gushing word she utters!), Jennifer Love Hewitt (I wish your mom was still alive to see your adorable bump!), Kristen Bell (cuteoverload!), and Jenna Dewan-Tatum (who was one of the most stunning pregnant women ever! Am I right?).
And we can’t forget the mamas-to-be who just recently surprised us all with their pregnancy news: Kelly Clarkson (sending morning sickness-ending vibes your way, girl!), Olivia Wilde (the kid’s going to have looks and humor!), Ginnifer Goodwin (yes, I’m a little jealous! First, you had an on and off-screen fairytale romance, now you’re getting your happy ending!) and Kerry Washington (brains, beauty and unbelievable style!).
And the title for most Googled pregnant woman of 2013 goes to…drum roll, please! KIM KARDASHIAN! Now here’s the top 10 list of the most Googled pregnant babes of 2013 in descending order:
1. Kim Kardashian
2. Kate Middleton
3. Megan Fox
5. Jessica Simpson
6. Halle Berry
7. Tamar Braxton
8. Olivia Wilde
9. Kerry Washington
10. Jennifer Love Hewitt
TELL US: Are you surprised by the list? Did your favorite pregnant stars make the cut? Who was left out that should have been on it?

Who Is Pregnant

Celebrities and sky-high heels go together like chocolate and peanut butter (yum!). But when you’re in the late stages of pregnancy, should you be wearing the same six-inch pumps you worshipped pre-pregnancy? Stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe certainly does. But even heelaholics like Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson and Fergie wore flats on occasion while preggers.
At nine months pregnant, Rachel was recently spotted wearing stiletto over-the-knee boots. This is nothing new for her, of course, with her first pregnancy with son Skyler, she tweeted: “Who said one can’t rock 6 inch high leopard booties by Brian Atwood at 38 weeks pregnant!!”
Yes, she’s looked fabulous with both pregnancies, but isn’t rocking massive heels while so pregnant down-right dangerous? As your belly gets bigger, your center of gravity can get wonky, leaving you less steady and more likely to trip over your own feet, starting at around the 25-week mark.
Most doctors suggest wearing under a 2-inch heel with good arch support once you enter the third trimesters, because of fear of falls as well as the fact that you can make existing back pain and leg cramps even worse when you’re in heels for extended periods of time. The best solution: if you really have to wear high heels, Women’s Health recommends alternating them with flatter ones through out the week, and as silly as it sounds, doing some calf stretches before wearing them, so not to cause cramping.
My feet were completely swollen my entire third trimester, so I couldn’t have squeezed into heels even if I tried (thank God I delivered during flip-flop weather)! But who can blame a fashionista for wanting to look and feel like her fierce pre-pregnancy self? After all, many women may not be able to wear their favorite footwear post-baby. That’s right, I hate to break it to you, but pregnancy can make your feet wider and increase your feet by up to a full shoe size by the time you deliver (mine are definitely wider and a half-size bigger!). So enjoy your favorite heels while you still can, ladies!
TELL US: Will you be wearing your stilettos till the very end of your pregnancy? Or at what point in your pregnancy do you think you should switch to flats and kitten heels?

Of course it’s smart to watch what you eat when you’re pregnant, too much overindulgence in those out-of-control pregnancy cravings can be bad news (leading to bigger, heavier babies, which equals a harder labor for you; and possible obesity in your kid’s future). But a blogger named Loni Jane Anthony has taken the idea of eating well while pregnant to the extreme into totally unsafe territory. The 25-year-old Australian woman, who is 26 weeks pregnant, has come under fire for following a radical fruit diet, eating mostly bananas (up to 20 a day!), drinking fruit smoothies and occasionally pairing it with a salad for dinner.
The super-skinny mom-to-be—who has nearly 120,000 followers on Instagram—is being called “irresponsible” and “narcissistic” by critics who think her diet is incredibly dangerous for her baby, because it’s not being given enough proteins or a variety of nutrients. According to Medical Daily, Loni wakes up every morning between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. to drink two liters of warm water with lemon. A typical breakfast includes either having half a watermelon, a banana smoothie, or whole oranges. She is following the 80:10:10 diet made up of 80 percent carbs, 10 percent fat, and 10 percent protein, which mainly consists of fruit and water.
The Mayo Clinic says the diet of a pregnant woman should consist of nutrients like folic acid, calcium, vitamin D, protein, and iron, which can be obtained through the consumption of foods such as spinach, beans, milk, yogurt, salmon, eggs, lentils, and poultry. It is suggested that pregnant women have a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.
Since Loni’s diet is short in protein—which helps with growth and repair of tissues—and several essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium, and zinc, it can lead to the baby taking calcium from her bones and leaving Loni susceptible for osteoporosis later in life.
While Loni denies she is on this diet because she’s afraid of gaining weight during her pregnancy, that’s certainly what it looks like to the outside world. And while it is completely unhealthy, with all of the “weight shaming” women receive in the media, especially while pregnant (like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson), I can understand how women who may already have an addictive personality or have had a previous eating disorder could take things to the dangerous extreme. Approximately 10 million women struggle with an eating disorder, and pregnant women with active eating disorders—often referred to as being pregorexic—are at a much higher risk of delivering a preterm baby or baby with low birth weight; having to have a C-section; and suffering from postpartum depression after delivery.
If you’re battling with an eating disorder, it’s best to seek help for you and your baby’s health. For more info from the National Eating Disorders Association, click here.

While it hasn’t even been five months since North West was born, and we haven’t even gotten our fill of her adorable cheeks yet (don’t you just want to squeeze them?!), it seems she’s going to have to share the spotlight with another Kimye baby sooner than expected. According to Us Weekly’s exclusive, Kim and fiancé Kanye West would like to get pregnant with baby #2 this summer—wait for it!—after they get married in what is sure to be the craziest, most extravagant wedding in history (um, fighter jets—really, Kanye?)!
Not that anyone asked me, but I’m all for another cutie to ooh and aww over! These two know how to make ‘em! Just look at little baby North!
The magazine’s source says that Kim has always wanted her kids to be close in age (which makes sense—she and Kourtney are only 18 months apart), and Kanye—who is an only child—is said to want a huge family.
So start placing your bets on the next baby’s name now. We’re already hearing rumblings of South West!

When you’re pregnant, you’re counting down the days until you find out whether you’re having a boy or girl (which is usually around 20 weeks). Then the big question is: How are you going to announce it? Fergie’s husband Josh Duhamel dropped a not-so-subtle hint on LIVE with Kelly and Michael that he and his singer wife are having a son. When show host Kelly Ripa asked him to choose between the pink or blue Kelly and Michael onesie, after a little prodding from the audience he chose the blue.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has made news with a surprise gender reveal. Jessica Simpson accidentally let it slip on Jimmy Kimmel Live that her second child would be a boy. Kim Kardashian’s baby shower invite of a music box with a twirling ballerina gave away she was having a girl. Ali Landry shared her baby boy news on WhoSay, while Poppy Montgomery posed for photos with a tiny pair of pink shoes to show she was having a girl.
But there are plenty of other ways to announce whether you are expecting a son or daughter: Gender reveal cakes, where the inside of a cake or cupcake is pink or blue, is a fun and yummy way to break the news. You can also do a dramatic balloon release at your baby shower. It’s easy. Just decorate a large cardboard box, marked “Boy or Girl?” and when it’s opened either pink or blue balloons come flying out. Computer-savvy types can email a Photoshopped sonogram of the baby with a pink hair bow or blue necktie, so friends can easily tell the baby’s sex. Or if you’re already a mom, let your little one do the announcing for you, by putting him or her in either a blue shirt that says, “I’m getting a baby brother!” or a pink one that says, “I’m getting a baby sister!”
I wasn’t able to keep my secret for long. My husband and I called our parents the second we walked out of the doctor’s office to tell them we were having a son. We couldn’t contain ourselves! Beaming ear to ear, we celebrated by going shopping for our baby’s first outfit. My husband chose a red and white striped onesie with a blue pirate monkey, and I chose the most adorable navy blue boat shoes. I have no idea why we went with a nautical theme (Maybe because he would be a summer baby? Or because we’re from boating cultures—I’m from Florida and my husband’s from California?), but we did!
Josh and Fergie are going to have a blast with their son—if he’s anything like mine. Boys have so much energy, and are totally rough and tumble. I love when a mini wrestling match turns into unstoppable hugs and kisses. Josh and Fergie, enjoy every second of your little man! I certainly am.
