Telling your mate that you’re pregnant is a really big deal—and lots of us like to do it up in style. But when Gwen Stefani discovered she was expecting her third child, baby Apollo, her method of sharing the news with hubby Gavin Rossdale was a little more unconventional.
As Us Weekly reports, in an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show yesterday, Gavin spilled the beans on how Gwen told him. “I got this email on the road, from Gwen, and the title was in capitals, ‘LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME NOW.’ I was like, ‘What is this?’ My blood pressure went through the roof. And I opened the e-mail, and it was the pregnancy stick.’”
It wasn’t exactly the most romantic way to share the big news, but I’m thinking it’s kind of like how your oldest child gets the completely filled in baby book and thousands of pictures of every milestone along they way, while the second and third kids kind of get the short shaft. For instance, we made three photo books documenting my oldest daughter’s arrival, while there’s one slim volume for my youngest.
Tell us: How did you tell your mate that you were expecting? Did your announcements get a little less elaborate with each additional pregnancy?

That’s the question a lot of readers are asking after checking out the New York Post’s article on Manhattan publicist Tracey Kahn, who’s a single mom pregnant with her second child at the age of 51.
Tracey reasons out that she’s in good health, well-off, and excited to have two children. And she’s not alone—according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of women having children over age 50 have increased fourfold over the past decade. And we’ve seen plenty of celebrities, including Halle Berry, Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman and Gwen Stefani, become pregnant after age 40.
Of course, there are risks associated with late-age pregnancy, such as increased risk for type 2 diabetes, stillbirth, and placenta previa for the mom-to-be, and increased risk of Down Syndrome or other genetic issues for the baby. (But Tracey’s using donor sperm and eggs, so she bypasses those issues, at least for her child.)
How old is too old to become a new mom? I know I feel too old, and I’m just in my early 40s—despite my daughters’ pleadings for a little sister or brother. But if you’re healthy, you’re energetic, and you’re motivated—why not? Kudos to Tracey for taking on motherhood at 51.
Tell us: How old were you when you had your last child? Would you consider becoming pregnant over 50?

Christina Aguilera‘s on Maternity Leave, Gwen Stefani Will be Judging The Voice!” Once Pharell Williams was announced as a new judge on The Voice, everyone was wondering whether mama-to-be Christina Aguilera would be back for the seventh season along with Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Well, the answer is no! But don’t worry, as she takes maternity leave to prepare for baby number two (a girl!), Christina’s leaving her revolving chair in good hands with a fellow musical mama: Gwen Stefani!
Maybe it was a case of pregnancy brain—or just excitement—but Christina didn’t even wait for NBC to make the big announcement; she leaked the replacement news herself by tweeting, “So excited to have you join #TheVoice squad @GwenStefani! Welcome to our crazy fam! Kisses xoxo #blondesdoitbetter.”
Soon after, Gwen confirmed the news for fans, writing, “It’s true! gx @nbcthevoice,” as an Instagram caption to a photo of herself doing the show’s signature peace sign while holding a microphone.
As a brunette, I’m not sure I agree with Christina that blondes do it better, but the show definitely has a type when it comes to their female judges: fair-haired moms! Shakira—who is on the show now—is mother to an adorable 15-month-old son, Milan; Christina has son Max, 6, and a daughter on the way; and Gwen has three boys: Kingston, 7, Zuma, 5, and newborn, Apollo, 2 months. So she should fit right in!
Plus, she’s used to being the front woman to a bunch of guys in No Doubt, so she’s not going to put up with any garbage from the male judges. If anyone can hold her own in Christina’s maternity leave absence, Gwen can!
And, Christina fans, you can take a sigh of relief, the soon-to-be Mrs. Rutler is set to come back for the eighth season, likely airing in spring 2015.

It’s only been two months since singer Kelly Clarkson announced she and hubby Brandon Blackstock were pregnant. Soon after she said she had a “gut feeling” she was having a girl, telling Parade: “I’m totally gonna have a girl. I’m manifesting it! And when I have a girl, you’re gonna be like, ‘That chick knew it!’” she joked.
Well, that chick knew it! Or manifested it! Or is just a really good guesser (well, it was a 50-50 chance she’d be right—there are only two options), because she is in fact having a daughter!
“We just found out we’re having a girl officially! I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!” she announced on Twitter Monday.
She already told Ellen DeGeneres that she and Brandon have chosen a unisex baby name that they were planning to use whether they were having a boy or girl. But no one’s getting that name out of her.
“We’re not saying because I don’t want someone to steal my baby’s name,” said Kelly. “We named our kid before we were even pregnant!”
PS Musical geniuses Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are expecting their third boy later this year. Maybe there’s a duet in these two kids’ futures!
TELL US: Did you have baby names picked out even before you got pregnant? If you’ve already had the baby, what did you name him or her?

Who Is Pregnant

I usually hate when tabloids try to out pregnant stars with their bump watches (especially because most of the time they’re wrong!). But I really, really hope they’re right about Gwen Stefani being pregnant with her third child. Because besides being one of the coolest singers ever, she also seems like an awesome mom. Have you seen her sons Kingston and Zuma? They have killer style just like their hot mama. It would be a shame to deprive the world of more of that kind of cuteness!
I don’t only want her pregnancy to be real for my own selfish reasons, though. I want it for her. The 43-year-old face (and voice) of No Doubt hasn’t exactly kept her desire for another baby a secret. Gwen told Marie Claire in 2012 that she had tried to get pregnant two years prior but sadly wasn’t able to. “Everything works out how it should,” she said. “You can’t plan anything, right? You can try.”
Well, if reports are correct, all that “trying” with hunky husband Gavin Rossdale has paid off, and she has a destined-to-be-adorable bun in the oven. With two little boys already at home, I would absolutely love to see Gwen have a baby girl. It only seems fitting since she has inspired generations of females and has epitomized the term “girl power” with her strong-yet-girly femininity, kick-ass career and unbeatable style (Come on, she made wearing braces cool—who else could have done that?!).
I also can’t help but wonder how awesome a lil’ Stefani-Rossdale girl would be. Not only would she have fierce genes, but I’m sure she’d have sick jeans (and hair and shoes) too! And her mom would teach her—rightly so—that as a girl she can rule this world, and look great while doing it.
