Boy or Girl for Christina Aguilera? Gender Reveal!

Friday, March 28th, 2014

Pop diva Christina Aguilera already has two men in her life—fiancé Matt Rutler and son Max, 6 (from her previous marriage to ex-hubby Jordan Bratman). So when news broke she was pregnant—just a week after her Valentine’s Day engagement news—inquiring minds wanted to know: Will baby number two be a boy or a girl? Now, we’ve finally gotten our answer. Christina will soon have one of each! Uh, huh, she’s having a daughter, a little sister for big bro, Max!

Christina is said to have publicly announced the sex of her baby on the way to the stage Friday in Malaysia, where she performed at a fan event. The Voice coach (who is currently on hiatus from the show to concentrate on her new album) is such a girly-girl from her massive jewelry and shoe collection down to her hair obsession, I’m sure she’s thrilled to be having a little girl.

According to HollywoodLife.com, Christina and Matt had been working on making their little bun in the oven for around 18 months before getting pregnant, and were both ecstatic when they found out Christina was pregnant. Though Christina would obviously be happy as long as she had a healthy baby, she was (not-so-secretly) hoping for a girl all along.

Congrats to mama, Christina!

Boy or Girl for Kelly Clarkson? Big Gender Reveal!

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

It’s only been two months since singer Kelly Clarkson announced she and hubby Brandon Blackstock were pregnant. Soon after she said she had a “gut feeling” she was having a girl, telling Parade: “I’m totally gonna have a girl. I’m manifesting it! And when I have a girl, you’re gonna be like, ‘That chick knew it!’” she joked.

Well, that chick knew it! Or manifested it! Or is just a really good guesser (well, it was a 50-50 chance she’d be right—there are only two options), because she is in fact having a daughter!

“We just found out we’re having a girl officially! I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!” she announced on Twitter Monday.

She already told Ellen DeGeneres that she and Brandon have chosen a unisex baby name that they were planning to use whether they were having a boy or girl. But no one’s getting  that name out of her.

“We’re not saying because I don’t want someone to steal my baby’s name,” said Kelly. “We named our kid before we were even pregnant!”

PS Musical geniuses Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are expecting their third boy later this year. Maybe there’s a duet in these two kids’ futures!

Gender Reveal: Jennifer Love Hewitt Had a…

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

Girl! The Client List star and costar hubby (yes, they had a secret wedding!) Brian Hallisay welcomed daughter Autumn James Hallisay on Tuesday, November 26. The fact that the couple had a girl was as much of a surprise to them as it is for us! The pair decided they didn’t want to find out the baby’s sex in advance. Instead, they’d just wait till they met him or her.

At a Pampers event in New York City in August, the ex-Party of Five star revealed why she was willing to wait to find out what she was having: “It’s one of life’s greatest surprises and we wanted to keep it that way,” she said. Two months later, she had a gender-neutral yellow and black baby shower surrounded by friends and family.

Though her pregnancy wasn’t always easy, Jennifer told E! News that she fully embraced every minute of it—including the bad parts. “Your body goes through a lot of changes. You feel a lot of things hormonally,” she said. “There are surges, there are aches, there are pains, there’s swelling—there’s all of that stuff. But it’s all really beautiful because it’s for a purpose.”

Yes, indeed, it’s important to see the “beauty” in everything while you’re pregnant. Otherwise, at times, it might be too much to bear! So take a note from Jennifer’s pregnancy playbook and relax and enjoy the ride!

If you’d like to do a gender reveal at your shower, check out this post about gender-reveal cakes. And if you have the gender-reveal blues, check out this one.

Gender Reveal: Boy or Girl for Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green?

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Drumroll, please. It’s gender reveal time for Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green. Well, it’s safe to say there will be a lot more of the color blue in their future. That’s right—they are expecting another boy! According to In Touch, the couple, which has been married since 2010, is adding another son to their growing brood, which already includes big brother Noah, who turns 1 later this month (as well as Megan’s stepson, Kassius, 11, who is Brian’s son with ex Vanessa Marcil).

The speedy pregnancy just months after Noah was born was reportedly a happy surprise for the pair, who first met on the set of the sitcom Hope & Faith in 2004. It’s no secret that Megan wants a big family, and that being a mom is now her number one priority. After having son, Noah, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star told Marie Claire UK: “Acting isn’t my job anymore. My job is to be with him. All I wanted to do my whole, whole life was have a baby and, now, I’ve finally done it. I just want to give Noah as much of myself as I can. And I want to have more kids. That is where my heart is.”

Congrats to Megan and Brian! Having a son myself (and no girls to compare him to), I can say boys are the best!

Gender Reveal Blues: Not What You Hoped For?

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

Autumn Reeser is Having a Boy!You wait 20 very long weeks to find out the biggest news of your life: Will you be having a boy or a girl? If you’re like me, you couldn’t hardly stand it! Ah, the suspense! And then, suddenly you hear the doctor say “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!”, and it’s as if you know this little guy or girl inside you in a whole different way. You’re not having a baby, you’re having a daughter, or a son, and that makes being a mom in just a matter of months that much more real.

Autumn Reeser—who I love, love, love from The O.C., Entourage and No Ordinary Family—just announced in a totally adorable gender reveal photo, complete with baby blue balloons, that she’s expecting a son! She’s due November 24 (just four days before Thanksgiving—now that’s something to be thankful for!). Already the proud mom to son, Finneus, 2, it does beg the question: Was she just the teensiest bit bummed when she found out she’d be having another boy?

I’ve known women who’ve exclaimed to friends, family and anyone who would listen, “I want a girl!” or “I want a boy!” as soon as they found out they were pregnant. Others play it cool when asked what they’re hoping for, by replying: “I’ll be happy either way as long as my baby’s healthy.” That’s true, but only to a point (For my first—a boy—it was totally true when I said I didn’t care either way, but like Autumn if I have a second, I’ll be pulling for a girl).

Most of us—whether we admit it to ourselves or not—have preconceived notions of what we want to have: some moms dream of having little girls they can shop, gossip and get mani/pedis with; others want a sweet and doting mama’s boy, while dads may dream of having a mini me to throw around the football with, or a little princess who can wrap daddy around her little finger.

Especially after you already have one child, the natural inclination is to want whichever sex you don’t already have. As one of my friends would say, “I want a pair, not a matching set.” (Way to turn your kids into objects! But I get the point.) But what if you don’t get what you want? It’s ok to be sad. You had already envisioned your whole life with your future baby: going wedding dress shopping with your little girl, or skydiving with your rough-and-tumble boy, crying at her college graduation, cheering him on at his first Little League game. You’re allowed to mourn that life that will never be. But then you have to move on. You can’t let it consume you. It’s time to get excited about the baby you’re having, because it’s going to be as equally amazing, with just as many spectacular memories to be made together.

So getting back to my original question, Was Autumn at all disappointed she was having another son? According to her website, maybe just a tad. She says, “The pregnancy has been following pretty much the exact same pattern as my first, and although it would have been nice to balance things out with a girl, I wasn’t surprised to find out we were adding another awesome little man to our mix.”

I think we can all learn from her example, and not proclaim one way or another whether we want a boy or a girl. I like that she took the positive approach—especially since there’s a digital trail her son could find one day. You don’t want the poor kid to think he wasn’t wanted. That has a lifetime of therapy written all over it!

TELL US: Would you be just the tiniest bit bummed out if you found out you were having a boy? A girl?
