Shocking # of Women Claim Immaculate Conceptions

Wednesday, December 25th, 2013

It’s Christmas time and whether you celebrate or not, we’ve all heard about the virgin birth of baby Jesus by Mary. Well, 2,000 years later, 1 in 200 young American women are claiming they too have been pregnant while maintaining their V card, according to a study at the University of North Carolina’s Department of Biostatistics at the Gillings School of Public Health.

The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health followed 7, 870 women of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds from 1994 (when they were all between 7th and 12th grades) to 2008 (when they were all between 28 and 32 years old) in a long-term confidential study about reproductive health. Of those women, 5, 340 reported being pregnant, and 45 of them consistently affirmed their status as virgins—saying they had never had vaginal intercourse and had never gone through in-vitro fertilization. Divine intervention perhaps, or just a case of women not wanting to admit to their parents—even at 32!—that they are no longer virgins?

Of those who reported being virgin moms, 31 percent had made a chastity pledge to remain a virgin until marriage (similar to Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Jessica Simpson, the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sparks, who all wore purity rings once upon a time).

According to the Daily Mail, “The 45 self-described virgins who reported having become pregnant (and the 36 who gave birth) were also more likely than non-virgins to say their parents never or rarely talked to them about sex and birth control. About 28 percent of the ‘virgin’ mothers’ parents (who were also interviewed) indicated they didn’t have enough knowledge to discuss sex and contraception with their daughters, and were less likely to know how to use condoms.”

While vipers, boa constrictors, sharks and Komodo dragons can all reproduce without sexual intercourse, without divine intervention at least, there is no scientific evidence that humans can.

TELL US: Do you believe these women really became pregnant while still virgins?
