Celeb Pregnancy Roundup: The Latest on Sara Gilbert and Shakira

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

Sara Gilbert is expecting again! The actress announced her pregnancy live on her show The Talk, when she backed out of a dare that involved lying on a bed of nails and having a cinder block broken over her belly. (Neither thing would be especially good for baby, am I right?) This will be the third baby for Sara, who has a daughter, Sawyer, and a son, Levi, from a previous relationship. (Sara’s currently married to rocker Linda Perry.)

And it looks like Shakira and her fiancé, FC Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué, are having a boy again! As People.com reports, in an interview with Hola! magazine, the pop singer’s parents spilled the beans that it’s another boy to join big brother Milan.

Congrats to both couples! (And I can’t wait to see what baby names they pick—as both made some intriguing choices the first times around.)

Which ‘Girls’ Actor Is About to Become a Dad?

Thursday, August 28th, 2014

Just when you think you’ve seen every iteration of the Ice Bucket Challenge there is — with toilet water, on horseback, with breast milk — Chris O’Dowd comes along and sets a new standard, reports E! Online.

For most of the 47-second video, the charming “Girls” actor sticks to the script. He introduces himself, says which charities he’s donating to, dumps a huge bucket of icy water on his head, and even yelps out some mild curses (natch). But then he nominates his unborn child!

“I’d like to nominate Baby O’Porter,” he says, and then turns the camera to his pregnant wife, Dawn O’Porter. The mom-to-be pours a glass of ice water over her obvious bump and lets out a little shriek. “So brave!” O’Dowd says in the final moments, a huge grin on his face. I’m calling it now — best baby announcement of the summer.

This will be the couple’s first child together; they were married in 2012.

Which Celeb Moms Are Expecting Again?!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2014

Amanda PeetWritten by Bonnie Gibbs Vengrow

Forget carefully worded statements from PR flacks — two celeb moms-to-be just announced they’re expecting in a most public (and kind of glamorous) way.

In true Hollywood fashion, actress Amanda Peet debuted her bump on the red carpet at last night’s Emmys. Dressed in a flowy Giambattista Valli gown, the 42-year-old looked radiant next to husband David Benioff as they confirmed that baby number three is on his/her way, US Weekly reports. The couple are already parents to daughters Frances Pen, 7, and Molly June, 4. Peet said her pregnancy is going well so far, though she admitted that she planned on getting comfy as soon as her red carpet duties were done. “I’ll be taking these heels off in a minute,” she said with a laugh.

Another mom-to-be took to the airwaves to share the news about her pregnancy. Today Show anchor and correspondent Jenna Wolfe let a photo of her ultrasound do the talking during a baby-themed segment on Friday, according to Today.com. After it flashed on the screen, she announced that she and partner Stephanie Gosk, an NBC News foreign correspondent, were expecting a daughter in February. This will be the second child for the couple; they’re already parents to daughter Harper, who turned 1 on Thursday. (Side note: First Savannah Guthrie, then Carson Daly, and now Jenna Wolfe — what’s in the water at 30 Rock?)

Peet and Wolfe are in good company — celeb moms Kourtney Kardashian, Ali Larter, Milla Jovovich are also expanding their broods later this year.
