Christina Aguilera’s Pregnancy Weight Struggle

Monday, March 17th, 2014

Pop star Christina Aguilera went through a very public weight gain and weight loss last season on The Voice—recently dropping a whopping 35 pounds. While she is thrilled to be pregnant with a sibling for son, Max, 6, Life & Style is reporting that newly engaged Christina’s not so happy about gaining pregnancy weight after working so hard on her diet and exercise to shed her unwanted pounds. But whether she likes it or not, her newly svelte body is about to get curvy. It’s nature, baby!

Christina has always maintained that she loves her body at every size (as does fiancé Matt Rutler!), and that it’s important for women to be comfortable in their own skin—no matter what. Amen! But the media often makes that hard on women in general, and especially on pregnant women (Remember just weeks ago when Chris Hemsworth’s actress wife Elsa Pataky was fat-shamed on the Oscars red carpet?).

When you suddenly have a new body you don’t recognize in the mirror, it can be a shock, and you may even need an adjustment period to get used to the woman who is looking back at you. Your favorite clothes suddenly don’t fit, and as Kristin Cavallari recently admitted, when you’re pregnant “you can just feel gross.” On the flip side, though, you can feel the most beautiful and feminine you ever have with glowing skin and flowing locks. You are a baby-making goddess after all!

No woman can predict how she’s going to feel—or look—while pregnant. While one mama-to-be may be psyched to suddenly have a top-shelf rack, another may hate her pregnancy breasts (like Jamie-Lynn Sigler did). And the same goes for your butt. You may love the bodacious curves you get, or you may feel like you aren’t ready for that jelly. And that’s ok. There is an end to it all, and you will get your pre-pregnancy body back at some point (though it may forever look a tiny bit different).

When pregnant with son Max back in 2007, Christina gained 40 pounds while pregnant (that’s a little more than the recommended 25 to 35-pound pregnancy weight gain—but, hey, Beyoncé gained 65 pounds and look at her now!). So to insure she doesn’t gain too much this time around, Christina has reportedly hired a team of nutritionists and trainers to keep her on a super-healthy pregnancy path. Um, must be nice!

For the rest of us who can’t afford all of that, the best thing to do is to continue working out through your pregnancy (unless your doctor advises against it, of course). Regular exercise can fight against gestational diabetes, routine pregnancy aches and pains, and even mood swings. And bonus: A recent study says working out while pregnant can even make your baby smarter!

Beyoncé Gained HOW MUCH Weight While Pregnant?

Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

Have you seen Beyoncé’s scantily-clad video for her new song “Partition“? The sultry singer strips down to pretty much nothing—just a G-string and an itty-bitty bikini top, shaking what her mama gave her, and looking incredible while doing it! Her motivation to flash so much skin? Mrs. Jay Z had finally lost the 65 pounds she put on while pregnant with daughter Blue Ivy, and she was ready to celebrate. Can you blame her? If I looked like that after having a baby–or ever, really–I’d probably never wear clothes! I think we can all relate to being a new mom, wanting to shed our pregnancy pounds, and to look and feel sexy (not to say you can’t be sexy while pregnant—I loved my newfound cleavage, but I could have done without the stretch marks on my lower belly!).

In part four of her self-titled digital documentary called Liberation, Beyoncé reveals, ”I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body. I was 195 pounds when I gave birth, I lost 65 pounds, I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body,” she said. ”I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back. I know finding my sensuality, getting back into my body…it was important to me that I expressed that in my music because there are so many women that feel the same thing after they give birth.”

“You can have your child and still have fun and still be sexy and still have dreams and still have yourself,” she continued. “I don’t at all have any shame in being sexual and I’m not embarrassed about it…I don’t feel like I have to protect that side of me because I do believe that sexuality is a power that we all have.” Agreed! And there really is nothing sexier than fitting back into your pre-pregnancy jeans. Am I right?

TELL US: Will you/did you do like Beyoncé and wear a bikini or something sexy to celebrate losing your baby weight?

Beyoncé’s New Album: Baby-Making Music?

Monday, December 16th, 2013

All anyone has been able to talk about is Beyoncé’s surprise “visual” album of 14 new tracks and 17 videos—which she released on iTunes with no advance notice, yet it’s still set to claim the #1 spot on the Billboard charts this week with a projected sales of over 600k! No shocker there—she’s a musical genius. But what is surprising is that back in October the internet was buzzing that Beyoncé was recording an album and filming all its videos so she could take a proper maternity leave because she was going to be concentrating on getting pregnant in 2014. Well, it now seems Beyoncé may not be the only one getting pregnant. Her sexually-charged lyrics on new songs like “Rocket” and “Blow” from her new self-titled album seem to have women all over Twitter claiming that just listening to them is getting them pregnant!

We’re not sure that’s scientifically possible, of course, but if anyone could do it, sexy Beyoncé could! She and hubby Jay Z have definitely had baby-making on their minds for a while. She told Good Morning America in May: “I would like more children. I think my daughter [Blue Ivy] needs some company,” the Grammy-winning singer said with a smile. “I definitely love being a big sister. At some point, when it’s supposed to happen [it will],”

She also shared in her HBO documentary, Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream just how much she loved being pregnant, describing it as “falling in love.” “You are so open,” she said. “You are so overjoyed. There are no words that can express having a baby growing inside of you.”

So it sounds like in 9 months, we can expect a boom of Beyoncé-induced pregnancies! Whether they’re metaphorical or literal, we’ll have to wait and see!

TELL US: If you weren’t already pregnant, do you think listening to Beyoncé’s new album could knock you up?

Is Beyoncé Preparing for Maternity Leave?

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

Hip-hop radio stations and blogs are blowing up with news that Beyoncé is working overtime, having filmed four (yes, four!) music videos in the past two months in order to have the videos—shot in Miami, New York, London and Paris—roll out to promote her upcoming album while she focuses on getting pregnant and taking maternity leave next year. A cootie patootie sibling for Blue Ivy!? Yes, please!

Sure, we’ve heard false Bey pregnancy rumors before, but this could be legit (fingers and toes crossed!). The Queen B is a total professional, and a bit Type-A, so it makes perfect sense that she would want to do the responsible thing and support her album even if she was taking time off for mommy duty part deux.

After all, she told Good Morning America in May: “I would like more children. I think my daughter needs some company. I definitely love being a big sister. At some point, when it’s supposed to happen [it will],” the Grammy-winning singer said with a smile. So it sounds like it’s supposed to happen next year!

She also shared in her HBO documentary, Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream just how much she loved being pregnant, describing it as “falling in love.” “You are so open,” she said. “You are so overjoyed. There are no words that can express having a baby growing inside of you.”

But Mrs. Carter hasn’t had the easiest road to motherhood. She famously revealed in the same doc that she had a miscarriage before having daughter Blue Ivy. “I was pregnant for the first time, and I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life,” she said. “I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like, I was feeling very maternal.”

Then she flew back to New York to get a check up, and “no heartbeat,” she said. “Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine…it was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through.” She explains that’s why she was so hush-hush about her second pregnancy with Blue Ivy, “because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

I really hope for Beyoncé and Jay-Z that this news is true (for once!), because they both seem like the most doting parents on the planet, and Baby B would make such an adorable big sis.

TELL US: Do you think it’s true Beyoncé is getting ahead with work so she can take maternity leave next year?

Twerking, a New Pregnancy Craze? (Yes, Really!)

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

Pregnancy Dance Craze TwerkingI admit I’m not cool. I first heard about twerking through Miley Cyrus’ “Twerking Unicorn” video, which now has 4 million + views on YouTube, and at least 100 of those views are from me! There’s something oddly mesmerizing about it (Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé and Rihanna agree—they’ve been known to break out into a mean twerk themselves).

As with all fads, this dance craze exploded and suddenly, men, women and children were all uploading twerking videos on YouTube. Now, it seems pregnant women are getting into the act too! Check out the video below for proof!

While exercise during pregnancy is encouraged to help ease aches and pains, boost energy and prep the body for childbirth, twerk at your own risk. Please seek advice from your doctor before you try this at home!

Here’s the video I was talking about. Preggers and she can still move like that? Very impressive.

TELL US: Will you give twerking a try, or do you think it could be dangerous for the baby?
