Which ‘Girls’ Actor Is About to Become a Dad?

Just when you think you’ve seen every iteration of the Ice Bucket Challenge there is — with toilet water, on horseback, with breast milk — Chris O’Dowd comes along and sets a new standard, reports E! Online.

For most of the 47-second video, the charming “Girls” actor sticks to the script. He introduces himself, says which charities he’s donating to, dumps a huge bucket of icy water on his head, and even yelps out some mild curses (natch). But then he nominates his unborn child!

“I’d like to nominate Baby O’Porter,” he says, and then turns the camera to his pregnant wife, Dawn O’Porter. The mom-to-be pours a glass of ice water over her obvious bump and lets out a little shriek. “So brave!” O’Dowd says in the final moments, a huge grin on his face. I’m calling it now — best baby announcement of the summer.

This will be the couple’s first child together; they were married in 2012.

Watch a Woman Become a Mom in 6 Seconds

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

Written by Bonnie Gibbs Vengrow

Is it just me, or does pregnancy play around with your sense of time? The first trimester feels pretty normal, the second moves at warp speed, and the third? Well, it slogs along like a chain gang on its way to the gulag.

In what can only be described as a flash of genius, one savvy expectant couple compressed their entire nine-month journey into a six-second Vine video that’s already received over 9 million views. Even though it’s over almost as soon as it begins, the video titled “The 9 Month Vine” was a real labor of love for Ian Padgham and wife Claire Pasquier. Padgham, who creates Vines for various brands, asked Pasquier to stand in the same spot in the bathroom each month while he captured two frames of video, reports Yahoo! News. He spliced the shots together to create one awesome video. And the Vine has a happy ending, of course — the final second or two shows the new mom cradling her newborn. Aww.

Check out the entire Vine video below:

Your Baby Bump: How to Hide It, Celebrity Style!

Friday, June 6th, 2014

Hayden PanettiereOkay, so unlike celebrities, most of us regular folks don’t have paparazzi photographing our every move, and tabloids wondering if our belly bloat is actually a baby bump—but that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to reveal our pregnancy news on our own terms, just like the stars!

Is Your Bump Offensive? Some People Think So!

Thursday, May 1st, 2014

Pregnant women no longer feel the need to hide their bumps in baggy clothes. Maternity wear is finally cute! Mamas-to-be are embracing their beautiful bellies—in clingy dresses, prenatal photo shoots (with or without clothes), and even proudly posting bikini bumpies. But apparently, not everyone is happy about that.

New Jersey’s radio station 101.5 is polling listeners online to find out: “Are pregnant bellies unattractive?” I can’t believe that someone would even ask that question, but DJs Dennis and Judi did. Maybe it’s just because I’m hangry right now, but I’m super-offended for every woman who has ever been pregnant!

And the results of the poll are even more infuriating! While people are still happily voting on the topic, nearly 55 percent of people who have voted say, “Yes, baby bumps should be hidden.”

Really?! The majority of people think that baby bumps should be hidden? This is 2014, people! Personally, I’m with the 45 percent who voted, “No—they are beautiful and should be displayed.” Pregnancy—and a woman’s changing body—is something to be celebrated!

Olivia Wilde Clearly LOVES Pregnancy!

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014

You can always count on Olivia Wilde to tell it like it is. After all, she recently tweeted: “People who confuse surprise births of 9 pound babies with gas pains should really consider adjusting their diets.” So of course she’s equally outspoken about one of her favorite things about being pregnant: finally having cleavage! “I’m like, double D, hello! I’ve never been in this section of the bra store! I’ve been flat-chested my whole life, so it’s a wonderful new world,” she professed to Lucky magazine.

On a more serious note, the mama-to-be, who’s expecting a baby boy on May 4 with funny fiancé Jason Sudeikis, seems to love her growing body, especially her baby bump. “I just thought, Oh I’m going to hide this forever,” she tells the magazine. “But I ended up getting kind of excited to show the bump, as a badge of pride, like, ‘I’m a woman! Look at me making a human! I am a goddess!’”

Being pregnant has been a bonding experience for the star, too, making her feel “connected to women” and, of course, her growing babe. “He’s moving around in there and no one else can tell—it’s a little secret friendship,” she says.

Trust me, Olivia, that friendship with your little buddy will get even stronger once he’s born! The moment you meet your son, you will fall truly, madly, deeply in love with him, and he’ll be cracking you up and making you smile in no time—after all, with you and Jason as parents, comedy has to be in his genes!
