Robert Downey Jr. Announced His Wife’s Pregnancy With a Sweet Tweet!

Thursday, July 10th, 2014

More celebrity pregnancy news! Following Eva Mendes’ pregnancy bombshell comes another big-name baby announcement—this time delivered in a message about as matter-of-fact as possible!

Robert Downey Jr. is expecting a baby girl with his wife, Susan. And he shared the news with fans on Twitter Wednesday in a pared-down tweet that pretty much covered the basics:

Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?

— Robert Downey Jr (@RobertDowneyJr) July 9, 2014

I don’t know about you, but I’m charmed by the sweet understatement of the tweet in an age of overblown messages, especially among the Hollywood set. And it’s a far cry from the last time the Iron Man star had baby news: He accidentally revealed the gender on The Tonight Show!

The actor and his wife, a 40-year-old producer, already have a two-year-old son together. Downey Jr. also has an older son, 20, from a previous relationship.

Pregnant? See how your belly will grow over the next weeks and months. And don’t forget to like Everything Pregnancy on Facebook to keep up with the very latest in pregnancy news and trends!

It’s True! Eva Mendes Is Pregnant With Ryan Gosling’s Baby

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

Eva MendesHot on the heels of our “is she or isn’t she” celebrity pregnancy rumors roundup comes confirmation of one featured star’s mom-to-be status: Eva Mendes is pregnant!

After rumors broke earlier today that the 40-year-old actress is 7 months pregnant with Ryan Gosling’s baby, People.com has confirmed that the couple, who have been dating since 2011, are indeed expecting a baby. It will be the first child for both—although they’ve had practice: They played parents in the 2012 movie The Place Beyond the Pines.

According to People, a pal of Mendes’s told the magazine that Gosling, 33, changed the actress’s mind about marriage and kids (apparently in the past she’d said she wasn’t interested in either), saying “with Ryan things are different…she’s very independent but she’s content with her partner. She finally found the person she really wants to be with.” Yeah, we can understand that change of heart!

While there’s been no confirmation from either star’s reps (or the couple themselves) and no word on how far along Mendes really is, we are pretty sure of a couple things: One, the hopes (and ovaries) of about a gazillion women have just been crushed (not to mention the dreams of anyone who still pined for a Ryan Gosling-Rachel McAdams reunion), and two, that’s going to be one fine-looking baby!

Which Frozen Star is Expecting Baby #2?

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

And baby makes four! Frozen star Kristen Bell and her Parenthood-starring husband Dax Shepard are getting ready to add a little sister or brother for daughter Lincoln, now 15 months. The couple announced the news today to Entertainment Tonight.

“I can confirm that Kristen and Dax are expecting their second child and a sibling for Lincoln,” the rep says, according to Us Magazine. “The whole family is beyond excited.”

That’ll mean the pair have two kiddos under the age of two—which should be VERY exciting and busy for them. (No wonder Kristen has talked recently about scaling back her career a bit to spend time with her family—as anyone with two really young kids knows, it’s never a dull moment!) Hopefully, it won’t put the kibosh on a few projects that she’s talked about, including potentially reprising her role of Anna in a Broadway version of Frozen.

Crazy Pregnancy Dreams: Guess Which Celeb Is Having Them?!

Friday, May 30th, 2014

Whether we remember or not, we all have dreams every night, but when our hormones are in hyperactive overdrive during pregnancy our dreams tend to be extra-emotional (no shock there!) and super-vivid. Pregnancy dreams could include everything from anxiety-inducing “Where did I leave my newborn baby?” to ones with larger-than-life action sequences or blush-worthy sexual fantasies with a partner you’d never even think twice about in your awake hours (the mailman or that pimply barista, really?).

Pregnant Today host Savannah Guthrie is no exception. She shares in her hilarious blog that she’s bump-deep in wacky dreams right now. “In the last few weeks, I have had some of the oddest and most vivid dreams of my life,” she writes. “Every night has become a hormone-addled tour of my increasingly freaky id.”

She confesses she’s had the standard “Am I really ready for this?” anxiety dreams, like the ol’ “my teeth fell out” and “the school dream,” where you forgot you had a test and you won’t graduate if you don’t pass it. Her pregnancy cravings have even played a role, frustrating her when she couldn’t order a sundae at an ice cream shop.

“Every time I went up to order they were out of ‘my’ flavor,” she explains. “So then I tried the-self-serve ice cream place, but instead of paper cups they had edible cookie bowls that kept crumbling before I could get to the cashier. Bottom line: I could. Not. Get. My. Ice. Cream. In my dream, this was an epic tale of determination, frustration and struggle. For ice cream.”

And then things get weird: She dreamed she gave birth, which seems pretty normal, until she’s forced to pilot a helicopter, which she crashes into the water, and escapes as it bursts into a fireball.

Savannah writes, “Hey, subconscious, thanks for the subtlety. Evidently, I am nervous about doing something I’ve never done before. And fear it will result in a dramatic, blazing crash, with innocent bystanders caught in the burning flames of my ill-preparedness. Nothing like your inner self beating you over the head with a metaphor.”

As insane as all these dreams seem, they’re actually very normal, say experts. During pregnancy, you’re adjusting to massive changes in your body and you’re soon going to be taking on a new, very important role that you’re likely nervous about. So dreams are essentially your way of handling all of that stress in a healthy way.

Increased progesterone levels during pregnancy (especially in the later trimesters) are also linked to more intense dreams, and since pregnant women tend to wake more throughout the night, they’re more likely to wake up mid-dream—which makes it easier to remember all of the craziness!

So even if you’re suddenly dreaming about hooking up with an ex, know that it has no basis in reality. It’s just that you’re likely feeling vulnerable about this rapidly approaching role as mommy and those feelings of insecurity are manifesting themselves in wacky ways. Relax, we’ve all been there!
