Another day, another piece of celebrity pregnancy gossip dominating the Web and the weeklies. But with so many high-profile ladies rumored to be pregnant right now, we figured it was time to take an educated stab at what baby bump news holds water (ahem, so to speak), and what's just boilerplate tabloid fodder.
Eva Mendes: Probably true!
The Internet caught fire today with news that 40-year-old Eva Mendes is pregnant—and seven months along!—with her first child, fathered by Ryan Gosling. Hey girl: Could it really be?! It's certainly a possibility, given that the couple has been dating for several years—if in an on-again, off-again way. And OK! reports that Ryan always wanted kids to fill a hole that came from growing up without a dad of his own. All we know is this kid could be among the world's most gorgeous celebrity offspring if the rumors are to be believed.
Zoe Saldana: Probably True!
Oh, we'd bet money that this one is real. The star's much-lauded slim physique is clearly showing signs of a baby on board, for instance during this grocery outing in L.A.—where it's much too warm at this point in the summer to conceal a bump with a chunky sweater! Beyond that, she's had nothing but glowing, magical words to describe new husband Marco Perego in the media (and his whopping arm tattoo of her visage is an unmissable sign of his devotion)—and we're totally buying it.
Kate Middleton: Probably false!
Rumors have been swirling that Kate Middleton is not only pregnant with royal baby no. 2—but no. 3 as well! Nevertheless, not only are we not buying the twins rumor, but we don't think she's expecting at all. First of all, Kate is one of those celebrities (like Beyonce and Jennifer Aniston) who is always pregnant, according to baseless media reports. She's too easy a target. Secondly, recall her first pregnancy? Yeah, the palace had to announce it much earlier than would have been ideal, because her symptoms were so acute that she was hospitalized. Every pregnancy is different, of course, but it seems unlikely she'd be going completely about her business undaunted if she were with child(ren) this time. It does seem likely, though, that they're trying now, just as George gets ready to celebrate his big first birthday later this month.
Lea Michele: Definitely false!
"Before this gets out to the media, I would like to announce to my fans that I am pregnant. #babyboy." So read a tweet posted to actress Lea Michele's Twitter account on Friday. So must be true, right? Not so fast. Turns out the star's account was hacked—and it's totally false! She's definitively not pregnant, but she very much took the whole thing in stride. She tweeted, "I was HACKED! Guess @chriscolfer and I should have known better then to make our passwords the names of our cats:)"
