Happy first day of spring, my friends. For those of you lucky to be surrounded by actual green shoots popping out of the earth, feel free to use them as your inspiration for this project. The ground outside of my home is frosty and covered in snow, so I am going to use past spring photographs (see below) as my inspiration.
This project asks that you use your non-dominant hand to capture a bit of spring spirit. On the back of some cereal box, place an art pen in your non-dominant hand and draw from a photograph or actual outside inspiration. Try to keep your pen down the whole time and encourage yourself to draw what you see — not what you think you see.
Once your drawing is complete, fill it in with watercolor, colored pencil or a wash of acrylic paint.
Trim your drawings and make a gallery display of your family’s mini spring showcase.
