Winter Olympics Crafts

Poor, poor Winter Olympics…they just never get the attention and celebration that the Summer Olympics get. In the warm weather, the Summer Olympics get families out on their lawns staging their own track and field relays, in the pool trying to swim like Michael Phelps, or on the beach playing volleyball. But the winter Olympics get lost in the doldrums of the season and never get their crafty due. Not this year.

If you’re looking for the 3 crafts that scream OLYMPICS (the rings, the torch, and the olive wreath), you’ve got them all in this little grouping here from Kate’s Creative Space.

First thing you think of when you say Winter Olympics? Snow! Repurpose this Christmas ornament craft from Parents into a craft to commemorate the winter games. Stand them on the mantle, windowsill, or hang them from a drawer pull.

How adorable are these cereal gold medal necklaces from My Sister’s Suitcase? I’m a sucker for edible jewelry. You can find similar plastic gold medals here or make them out of air-dry clay.

So we have the torch, the rings, the gold medal and the olive wreath. We are just missing one thing…the winner podiums! Your kids can stage their own miniature winter games with their toys and stand the winners on these cute podiums made by the amazing blog, Classic Play.
