Make it: Flower Garden Sculpture

We are lucky ducks because The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is a mile down the road from our home.  It was pouring last Friday, so we packed lunches and met friends at the museum for some creative fun.  While there, the children participated in the project in the art studio where they made their own flower gardens.

It was a simple, clever idea with florist foam for the base and all sorts of materials to stick in for the “flowers” and garden flora.

I love how the flowers tended to look like something from a Dr. Seuss book with over-sized, odd shaped petals and long, twisty stems.  Their finished gardens were gorgeous and they’ve been brightening our space ever since.

Oh, and for those who are in the area, I’ll be running a three day class Storytelling Art Workshop at the Eric Carle Museum on July 16-18.  Registration is required!

Cheers!

Emily
