The Dadabase’s HP “Tech-Over” Giveaway For Mother’s Day

16 months.

The bad news is that you lost the Mega Millions Lottery.

But the good new is, for one lucky mom out there, the inventive folks at HP out in San Francisco have decided to host an exclusive computer giveaway here on The Dadabase. Yes, I’m really that cool now… evidently.

Moms are always putting others before themselves and updating their technology is no exception. This Mother’s Day one of my lucky readers can give a mom what she really wants – a full “Tech-Over” including an HP TouchSmart, dm1 notebook and wireless mouse!

I hereby officially encourage readers to submit a mom for the technology suite. All HP asks is for submitters to comment on this kick-off post or tweet to @HP and @NickShellWrites explaining why the mom in their life needs a tech-over.

(#HPLovesMom is the official hashtag.)

HP wants this to be a fun experience, expressing your personal style, so anything from a picture of their mom’s old PC to a video pleading their case will work!

Listed below is information on the three HP products they be gifting to one lucky Dadabase reader:

HP TouchSmart 320

Mothers have that special touch that makes everything better, so why not reward her skill with the HP TouchSmart 320? This powerful, compact, wireless all-in-one PC can recognize mom’s fingers before she even touches the screen, making her interaction more accurate and responsive while enhancing her viewing experience on the 20-inch, full high-definition widescreen. Plus, the new TouchSmart 5.0 “Magic Canvas” software means she can jot notes, open apps and view content all at once. Available on HP Home & Home Office. Starts at $599.99.

HP Pavilion dm1

Measuring less than 1-inch thin and sporting AMD’s dual-core Fusion processor, the HP Pavilion dm1 blends portability with power and performance. With its compact size, 8GB of memory and Beats Audio™, the dm1 is ideal for those moms that do-it-all and are always on the go. Available on HP Home & Home Office. Starts at $399.99.

HP X4000 Wireless Laser Mouse

Not only is the HP X4000 Wireless Laser Mouse ambidextrous, but it also comes in three attractive colors (ruby red, winter blue and black). This high performance wireless mouse also operates from up to 30 feet away and can be used on almost any surface. Available on HP Home & Home Office. Starts at $29.99.

In the meantime, you’ll be seeing updates from me about this on The Dadabase’s Facebook wall.

Dads, submit your spouse and mother of your kids. Kids, submit your mom. Anybody who wants to, submit a mom.

Now, let the games begin!

Just comment on this kick-off post or tweet to @HP and @NickShellWrites explaining why the mom in your life needs a tech-over:

My mom moved to the US so she could work and help her family back in her country. She’s been working with a purpose to make sure her family over there (including us :]) live a happy life.

She still communicates with them through the phone but I have always suggested her to email and do a skype video chat. The time zone is very different so she could only talk to them after 10pm.

    Hey Nick!
My Mom totally deserves a “tech-over”! She is the most loving and generous person around. She is always doing things for other people. She is over the Helping Hands Ministry at our church where once a month we give out boxes of food to elderly and needy families in the community. She arranges to get the food, handles all of the paperwork, and coordinates the volunteers. She has a heart for people. My mom is the most wonderful mother and friend. She always gives and gives and I would love for her to be able to win this! The computer that she has now is so old and slow. I know that she would be so thrilled to get a brand new, top of the line computer! HP has excellent products and I know that she would love it!

My mom is an amazing woman. She has a total of five children. When I was living with her, she spent much of her time as a single mother who worked three jobs. I ended up moving away, and some bad situations followed. Unfortunately, she had abusive partners. My mother was a strong woman, and she eventually left. She has always been there for her children. At a time when I felt like I had no one, my mother dropped everything and drove 2000 miles to come get me. She has continually put others ahead of herself. It would be wonderful if she could win the computer. She uses the internet to stay in touch with her children and grand babies who live in different states.

My mom is not in need of a tech-over but my other mom is. That is my 60 year old maw maw. She deserves this tech-over because not only does she take care of 60 kids ( she is a public school teacher.) There is something that might be threating her job. I have tried to play on her computer but it takes 30 minutes to start up and everytime you do something it takes a 10 minute break. So she cannot get emails about the matter of her job without it taking an hour of 2. I’ve told her about how she needs to get a new computer but she says shes about to be out of a job and cannot afford it. About everyone of her “kids” love her and her real kids do too. So please give my “mom” the the tech-over because she truley deserves it. She does things she doesn’t want to do. She gives as much as she can to chraity. And don’t forget take care of 60 kids, some of those who have learning disorders. She has told me this many times, “Once a kid comes into my class, they will be one of my kids forever.”

My mom is pretty tech savvy. Her computer and set up is not so much. Her computer runs very slow despite help from us kids on spyware and virus protection. It’s just out of date and she needs a new system. I would love for her to win this. She has a business of grooming pets and keeps up with all her finances that way. I can’t imagine what she would do if it crashed. And, HP has always been her brand of choice.

    Hi Nick & Parents.com,
I am not sure if voting oneself to win is acceptable, but I truly have to give myself credit as being a super MOM! I have two beautiful daughters that I have raised, one is 8 yrs. and the other is 7 yrs., on my own. I have been known to have had three jobs and attend college full time, and wander when i would get to just spend a relaxing afternoon with my daughters. But now I have a debilitating head condition that has caused me to not be able to hold down not even one full time job. I truly believe if I were lucky enough to win HP’s ” Tech-Over”, I would still be able to spend the much needed quality time with my daughters. To be able to expand there knowledge in todays, ever so growing, internet world would make my dreams come true!
    Sincerely, Laura

First off, Thank you to @HP and all involved for this awesome giveaway. Their is going to be a very happy Mom somewhere this Mother’s day!

I would love to present this to my Mother. Over the last couple of years she has started a business at home that she runs with an outdated laptop. It has been a struggle for her and has had a lot of “bad” things going on as well. Currently she is waiting to have surgery (has been postponed twice) to repair 4 ruptured discs in her lower back. This is causing her great amounts of pain and has limited her activities for quite some time now. She is a very giving, generous and compassionate person in every way and is always thinking of others over herself. I would love to ease some of her labors and surprise her with a fabulous gift this Mother’s day and am not able to do for her what I want due to my own families hardships this year. Thank you for the opportunity to win this for her.

I think my step mom really deserves a makeover. She’s not super computer literate and the touchscreen would make the computer fun.

My mom’s frustration at her older system and the slowness keeps her from using it as she could.

Where do I even begin??? I nominate myself. My desktop’s cd driver is broken. It really limits the projects that I can work on and just drives me crazy. Not even sure how to save all those now thousands of pictures that are on my computer. I also HAD a netbook, but one of my kids dropped it onto the table. The screen is now 1/2 fried. They felt so bad, but it was just an accident. Of course that’s what I was letting them use so that I could keep an eye on them while we did work in the kitchen. The desktop is down in the basement. I would love the HP TouchSmart 320 set up on my small kitchen desk. This would be the perfect solution. The HP Pavilion dm1 would be great for the 3 hours a day that I sit at swim practice. I could get so much work done for the kids’ church groups that I organize. This would truly be a Mother’s Day wish come true!!!

Thanks for helping me to achieve new tips about desktops. I also contain the belief that one of the best ways to maintain your laptop computer in prime condition is a hard plastic-type case, as well as shell, that suits over the top of one’s computer. These kind of protective gear usually are model distinct since they are manufactured to fit perfectly above the natural casing. You can buy them directly from the seller, or through third party sources if they are readily available for your mobile computer, however not all laptop will have a cover on the market. Just as before, thanks for your ideas.
