This Is What Being Pooped on as a Parent REALLY Looks Like

New dad Al Ferguson did what so many of us do when we have a baby — he and his son, Ted, posed for professional pictures. The shoot started out innocently enough. Al held a sleeping Ted tenderly in his arms while looking at the camera with a hint of a sweet smile.

But then suddenly, Ted woke up. Well, at least his bowels did. “It happened within a second,” Ferguson told Today.com. (He also wrote about the incident on his blog, The Dad Network.) “As I felt his stomach tense, in the back of your head you know he’s about to go poo, and then before you know it … he’s doing it.” By “doing it,” Ferguson means his son unleashed a steady stream of loose poop over the crook of Dad’s arm and onto the carpet below — all with a self-satisfied smile on his face.

Thankfully, photographer Kirsty Grant was there to capture the still-snoozing newborn‘s “deposit.” In fact, Ferguson said she picked up a diaper to “stem the flow. And she still got the shot.” (Well done, Kirsty!) Anne Geddes this photo is not, which is probably why everyone is going bananas over it. After all, most of us parents can relate way more to being covered in baby poop than we can to a baby dressed as a flower sitting in a garden pail.

But don’t take my word for it — check out the hysterical before and after shots below:
