Night Fright

Friday, April 4th, 2014

My daughter kept waking up in the middle of the night for several nights in a row. We assumed she was scared of sleeping so close to the window, so I asked her if she would like to move her bed. She said, “Yes, Mom, to your room.”

One evening while my daughter was getting ready for bed, I caught her putting on lip gloss. I asked why, and she responded, “Because I might be in a fashion show in my dreams!”

Settled In

Thursday, December 5th, 2013

While putting my daughter to bed one night, she told me she was thirsty but had forgotten her cup of water downstairs. When I told her she could go get it, she responded, “I am not that thirsty. I can just swallow my spit.”

woman close-upWhile trying to get my daughter to sleep, she was lying in bed next to me and running her fingers across my head gently. Out of nowhere, she told me I was old so I asked why she thought that. Referring to my wrinkles, she said, “You have stripes on your forehead.”

The Price of Sleep

Friday, June 14th, 2013

girl with open handBoth of our kids had recently taking to coming into our bed in the middle of the night. To stop this, I told them that they would owe us a dollar ever night they came into our beds. A few nights later, my husband was snoring so loudly that I snuck into my daughter’s bed to get some sleep. When I woke up, my daughter promptly said, “Good morning!” Then she held out her hand and said, “You owe me a dollar.”
