Noble Sacrifice

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

My daughter asked me if she could do gymnastics. I explained that she was already taking swim lessons and three dance lessons, so she would have to give up one of them if she wanted to do gymnastics. When she asked why, I told her that they cost money, and that she’d need time to do homework. She responded, “What if I give up homework? Then can I do gymnastics?”

Back to School

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

I was going back to school after a 10-year break. My son thought I was going to teach at the school, but I corrected him, explaining that I was going to be a student. Confused, he asked, “But how are you going to get littler?”

Easy as A-B-C

Friday, September 5th, 2014

We went to a kindergarten meeting that was held in the gym of a high school. To make room for all the chairs, the portable basketball hoops had been folded down at the post and pushed aside. My son commented, “This high school must be the easiest school in the world. Look how low the basketball hoops are!”

Driving Dilemma

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

One morning, my son said, “Oh look, the school bus is coming to pick up the kids!” The bus driver waved as we jogged by and Mason asked, “Mom if a bus driver drives a bus, what does a screwdriver drive?”

Lottery Ticket

Friday, August 29th, 2014

My son reminded me to get a lotto ticket while we were at the check-out counter. As I finished paying the cashier, he said, “I hope you win, because then you can quit your job, right?” I agreed that it would be great. He added, “And then I can quit third grade!”
