Baby Birds

Thursday, June 5th, 2014

We had a family of woodpeckers living in a tree at our home and I wanted to show the little babies to my niece. As we were looking in the tree, one of the birds popped its head out. Amanda was so ecstatic that she asked me to reach in and pull him out. When I told her that reaching in would make the mom mad, she replied, “Just pull him out by his pecker!”

Little Explorer

Friday, May 30th, 2014

I was outside with my daughter at the end of a long winter. She was delighted to discover her forgotten butterfly net in the garage, so she picked it up and put it over her head. Immediately she made a face, and in a disgusted voice exclaimed, “Blech, this net smells like butterfly breath!”

Dirty Work

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

We were sitting in the car in our driveway, getting ready to leave. My daughter saw our neighbor doing yard work, so she rolled down the window and yelled, “Hey Sherry, why does your husband make you do all the work?”

A bee stung my daughter. When her grandfather asked her what happened, she replied, “Well, I pinched a bee and he pinched me!”

Sweet Sounds

Monday, April 14th, 2014

My daughter was given a beautiful conch shell. Instead of hearing the ocean when she put it up to her ear, she said, “It sounds just like my day care’s toilet.”
