Monday, February 10th, 2014

My son and I were leaving the doctor’s office when he asked me about the seasons. After I named fall, winter, spring and summer, he added, “But wait, Mommy, you forgot to add flu season!”

Car Repairs

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

I was taking my car into the shop when my daughter asked where we were going. I launched into a creative explanation about how my car was sick and we were taking it to the machine hospital to see the car doctor. After a few minutes she stopped me and said with an exasperated sigh, “Mom, cars don’t have doctors. I think you mean the mechanic.”

Physical Exam

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

I was preparing my son for his check-up. I explained that his doctor would be checking all of his body parts to make sure they were healthy, including his private parts, which he calls his “wink-wink.” He was very quiet during this explanation. Then he looked at me and asked seriously, “Wink-wink is the king of the body, huh, Mom?”

Medical Misunderstanding

Friday, December 6th, 2013

During a recent trip the ER, the doctor asked my son if he thought he could pee into a cup. My son paused and then said, “That depends. How far away is the cup?”
