Lost in Translation

Monday, June 2nd, 2014

My son loves it when I do voices for his cars. The other day he handed me one of the British spy cars and said, “Here’s Holly. She has an English accident.”

Full Speed Ahead

Thursday, May 1st, 2014

My daughter was riding in her grandmother’s car when she noticed a small religious statue on the dashboard. Her grandmother explained that the saint would protect them so they wouldn’t drive too fast or get in an accident. After a moment, Kate asked her to take it down. She explained, “I want to go fast and I don’t want him to stop us!”

Look Out

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

While driving down the road, my son asked what the different road signs meant. I explained that the sign with the deer meant to watch for deer crossing the road and the sign with the tractor meant to watch for tractors crossing the road. When we passed a no parking sign, my son yelled out, “Watch out for the letters crossing the road, Daddy!”

I was in a minor car accident one weekend. Later, when we dropped my son off at his new day care provider, she asked how his weekend had been. Rory responded, “Mommy screamed, hit a lady, and then the cops came!”

Stay Strong

Thursday, April 17th, 2014

We were waiting outside for our train. A car drove past that was so beat up, it was basically held together by duct tape. My son looked at me and said, “Never give up, Mom. Never give up.”
