Little Helper

Monday, May 12th, 2014

Before the arrival of our second child, my husband and I tried to prepare our son for what it means to be a big brother. During the conversation, I said, “When your sister is ready to be born, we’ll need your help, and Mommy will have to go to the hospital.” He answered matter-of-factly, “Okay, I’ll drive.”

Curious Kid

Thursday, April 3rd, 2014

When I was expecting our second child, my son was very curious about my pregnancy and how it worked. When the big day arrived, his dad and grandmother brought him to the hospital to meet his new brother. Owen looked at the baby and turned to me with tears in his eyes. He said, “But Mama, I wanted to see the placenta.”

Hush Little Baby

boy covering earsAfter looking forward to the birth of his new baby brother, my son was very upset when he realized how loud the baby was. When he was trying to watch his favorite cartoon but not able to hear it over his brother’s screams, Cody asked, “Can we put the baby back in your belly? He was quieter there!”

Welcome Back

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

We were going to visit my mother in the hospital and my 6-year-old daughter Meghan asked if it was the same hospital in which her two brothers, her sister, and she were born.  I told her, “Yes it was.”  She then replied, “The people at the hospital will be so surprised and happy to see us back!”
