Revolutionary Software Connects Adoptive Parents with Newborns

I found a new, cutting edge technology for adoptive parents and I wanted to share it with you:

Founded by Dr. Lori Ingber, Parent Match is the nation’s first and only national, secure and searchable professional network. Parent Match provides adoption agencies with something they’ve never had before: one central database that allows them to connect with other agencies around the country with a few simple mouse clicks. This means faster connections between birth and adoptive parents within the Unites States (only available domestically).

More than 90 percent of adoptive parents report that they are networking and researching adoption online.

“I’m an adoptive mom, as are my sisters, so I know first-hand the challenges trying to find that perfect match between adoptive parents and birth parents,” says Dr. Ingber. “I knew there had to be a way to use technology to simplify the process for everyone.”

How it Works:

  • Agencies enter their client information into a user-friendly database. Clients specify what they are looking for in a match.
  • Parent Match is a national resource that allows agencies to access agency networks across the country in one, simple place.
  • Easier access to more comprehensive information translates to shorter waits, and ultimately that means more families are created, says Dr. Ingber.

Today’s adoptive parents are using online technology as a core tool in their journey. Dr. Ingber and her team have created patent-pending technology that provides state-of-the-art security and confidentiality, but makes using the Parent Match network simple and intuitive. Agencies pay a small monthly fee for unlimited access to the extensive secure network and no other fees or charges are involved.

This web-based program walks adoption agencies through the process of entering highly descriptive information about the needs of their client, whether you are an adoptive parent or an expectant mother. Ask your agency to sign up with Parentmatch.com to make the diagnostic match and do the hard work for you.

Dr. Ingber has a Ph.D. in Public Health. She has two biological children and two adopted children from Korea. Agencies pay a small monthly fee for unlimited access to the extensive secure network and there are no other fees or charges.

This is not new or cutting edge, We used a product called parentfinder.com over a year ago that allows parents to create profiles, and allows agencies and birth parents to search families to match their preferences. Our agency said many families were now matching 2-5 months sooner since they started to use this technology.
GO see for yourself parentfinder.com. We like that as parents we could see how many times we were viewed. Then by making changes to our profile we could see if our views went up or down. Either way these applications are changing adoption for the better.

The differences between Parent Match and ParentFinder.com are fundamental. Parent Match is for adoption *agencies* only. It is the first and only (patent-pending) nationwide network for adoption professionals to use on behalf of their clients (expectant parents and prospective adoptive parents). Parent Match never works directly with parents, it smooths the process of matching a client for the agency, so that parents are matched much faster than ever before. Also, there is no searchable listing on Parent Match, it is completely computer-generated. All information is confidential, no expectant or adoptive parent information is accessible to anyone but the agency supplying the information. Matches are made based on client preferences and details of personal information are discussed off the site between the two agencies privately.

Catholic Social Service, a Catholic Charities agency for southwest Kansas, and a state-licensed child-placing agency, has been helping couples to adopt children for more than 45 years. We, too, have begun using parentfinder.com.
For us, it is a great way to get our approved adoptive families seen by others for a possible match. We have had great communication with Mike Ferretti and the whole team. They are great to work with and very supportive. Parent Finder is where the adoptive families do an on-line profile with pictures and share information about themselves and their families. You can also go to Parent Finder and look at families without signing in. That is a great feature for someone thinking about making an adoption plan.
They also have My Adoption Portal and Child Connect. Child Connect is for after the two families are matched. They can share photos, communicate with each other, and stay in touch better. We use My Adoption Portal more for couples signing up for our adoption program or to get more information regarding adoption. They can view our handouts, complete forms, apply, sign up for our Open Adoption Workshops, and upload all of the information that is required. It is just a great product that helps to match up adoptive families with birth parents.
