I have an 8-month-old who is cutting teeth. How long before they pop up?

Answer

The average time between when teething starts and the teeth emerging is 8 weeks, but this can vary quite a bit.

The older kids are after six months, the shorter amount of time teething takes. Also, teeth do not grow quickly. They will move a lot for several days and then take a break for a while, then move again.

Many kids don't experience pain with teething. Some do, but it's not for the whole time.
