Once your child can sit up on her own, it's time to invite her to join you at the dinner table. But finding the right high chair--a key factor in making meals a pleasant experience--can be tricky. Since the chair has to withstand about two years of heavy use (not to mention possible hand-me-down duty), you want to make sure it's a model that's safe, sturdy, and easy to clean. Before buying, check that the chair has a durable safety harness to keep your little one in place, as well as a tray that can be easily removed. Read on to see which seats left our testers happy, healthy, and hungry for more.
Easy Comfort by Evenflo, $100
Tested By: Denise and Ralph Laraiso with Emilla, 14 months; Nicholas, 3; Vincent, 4; Anthony, 7; and Joey, 10 Decatur, Ill.
Using the chair's simple instructions, we were up and running in just ten minutes. The casters make this model very easy to move around the house, and because the unit folds down, we can even take it with us on day trips to visit friends. We feel Emilia is very secure in the chair, although she does sit a little lower than we'd like. One great space-saving feature: The tray can be removed and stored on the chair's back legs.
Bottom line: A top pick with great portability.
