Q. Can I nurse if I'm pregnant?
A. You can continue to breastfeed if you want to. However, "the milk you produce will revert back to colostrum and your supply will decrease, so it won't be sufficient as your baby's sole source of nutrition," says Anne Garrett, an international board certified lactation consultant in San Francisco. Some babies and toddlers wean on their own when the milk starts to taste different; others don't mind. Discuss this with your doctor: Women who are at risk for preterm labor may be advised to stop breastfeeding.
