Popular among early Christians who used it in anticipation of eternal life. The name of two martyrs and a ruling Byzantine empress. Fashionable in the United States during the 19th century, however usage declined after the turn of the 20th century. The name suddenly hit a popularity streak and slid into the top 100 in 2000. Recently associated with the television show "Zoey 101" and a muppet on the long-running children's television series, "Sesame Street."
