Place name for many geographic sites, including the Sierra Mountains, that became a fashionable choice in 1993 when it entered the top 100. High position on chart in 2000 partially due to PepsiCo's release of new lemon-lime soft drink, "Sierra Mist." A nature name more frequently given to girls and one that is trendy when expresses the long "ee" sound or when variations are spelled with "ia", "ra" or "y."
