The pet form of Sarah that was used as an independent name at the start of the 20th century. It was a top 100 name during the 1880s and early 1900s, later influenced by 1928 film, "Sadie Thompson," starring Gloria Swanson and the updated 1953 version, "Miss Sadie Thompson," starring actress Rita Hayworth. The name continues to be a favorite because of the Disney 2005 show, "Naturally, Sadie."
