Brought into England by the Normans. Grew in popularity during the Middle Ages, which led to several surnames, including Dodges, Hodges, and Rogers. Associated with the English philosopher, Roger Bacon, during the 13th century. Influenced during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s by Roger Moore, star of the television series, "The Saint," and known as the longest-running James Bond actor.
