Derived from the German element "gisel," that's most often pronounced "je-ZELL," and the title of a well-known 19th century ballet from the Romantic period by French composer Adolphe Adam that adds character and poise to the name. It debuted on the popularity chart in 1983 and recently moved into the top 200 names in 2003, following the outbreak of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who was said to be "the most beautiful girl in the world" in 2000.
