A form of the Greek name, Odysseus, the hero in Homer's epic novel, "The Odyssey." Best-known for Ulysses S. Grant, the Union general during the Civil War and 18th President of the United States. Also the title of a novel published in 1922 by James Joyce. An enduring name that has never achieved a tremendous amount of popularity. Ulises is the Spanish form.
