The original Creole name, coined for singer Beyoncé Knowles (from the musical group Destiny's Child), is a variant of her mother's maiden name, Beyincé. After fearing that her last name would die out (because of the many female births in the family), Tina Beyincé decided to keep the Creole surname alive by bestowing it on her daughter.
