Norman

Derived from "nord" and "man" referring to a Norseman or Viking. Historically the Normans were descendants of the Vikings who settled in a part of northern France they called Normandy. In 1066 they conquered England at the Battle of Hastings. The name was favored in England before the conquest, and remained in use after, fading during the 14th century. In the U.S., the name became fashionable during the 19th century, listed among the top 200 from 1880 to 1972. , From the north
