Israel

Derived from the Hebrew "Yisrael" for the country in southwest Asia that borders on the Mediterranean Sea. In the Old Testament, God changed Jacob's name to Israel as a blessing. His ancestors became God's chosen people and were called Israelites. Risen in popularity as of late due to a biblical naming trend.
