Francesca

The Italian feminine variation of Franciscus and the name of the first American saint. It was more recently used for the fictional Italian Iowa housewife in the 1992 best-selling novel, "The Bridges of Madison County" by Robert James Waller that was adapted into a 1992 film starring Meryl Streep in the role of Francesca. The name has been moderately popular since 1953.
