Name debuted on the chart in 1990 after American rock singer Fiona released three albums, starting in 1985. Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, Fiona Apple, also drew attention to the name with her 1996 debut album, "Tidal." Having a tremendous impact on the name is "Princess Fiona," the popular character in the 2001 film, "Shrek" and the two sequels that have followed in 2004 and 2007. The name also peaked in 2004 at No. 327, the same year fictional character "Fiona" was introduced in "The Grim Grotto," one of Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" books.
