Esmeralda
A variation of the vocabulary word "emerald" and gem name that was first associated with the famed fictional character in the 1905 film, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame,"based on the 1831 novel by Victor Hugo. The name peaked toward the end of the 20th century following the 1996 release of the Disney film version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," starring an updated "Esmeralda" character. The name was also inspired by the fictional maid played by actress Alice Ghostley on the 1964 to 1972 television show, "Bewitched."
