Elsie

A variation of Elspie which is a pet form of Elspeth and ultimately the Scottish short form of Elizabeth. Used independently since the 19th century, peaking at No. 31 during the 1890s. Considered a literary name used by poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in the "Golden Legend" and Oliver Wendell Homes in the novel "Elsie Venner. It made a comeback in 2005 after a 29-year absence from the popularity chart that's part of a vintage naming trend. , Consecrated To God
