Daphne

Originated in Greek mythology for a nymph who was changed into a laurel tree by the river god to escape the affections of Apollo. Also the name of a shrub that is recognized by its handsome foliage and fragrant flowers in use during the 19th century when plant names came into fashion. More recently known for cartoon character Daphne Blake from "Scooby-Doo" and fictional character Daphne Moon from the television show "Frasier."
