Bella

The short form of Isabel or Isabella, that also means "God's promise" in Hebrew. Notable bearers of the name are Bella Freud, granddaughter of psychoanalysis inventor Sigmund Freud and Bella Savitsky Abzug, a famous American political figure and a leader of the 20th century women's movement. The name has recently been influenced by the popularity of Disney character, "Belle" from the 1991 movie, "Beauty and the Beast."
